We all know paddleboard fishing is fun but Captain Ben Chancey has had enough sup fishing fun for a lifetime.
Last July Captain Ben was paddleboard fishing off the coast of Florida when he snagged almost more than he could handle on the line, a 7 foot long Goliath Grouper. This would be a difficult fish to land even from inside a boat, but with luck and determination Captain Ben wrestled the giant fish to the surface.
It wasn’t easy, or graceful. Captain Ben was even pulled off of his paddleboard into the water and still managed to hang on to his fishing rod and the fish, and climb back up on his board.
Captain Ben Chancey, we at The Wet Life salute you.
I’ve heard of using a paddleboard to fish in shallow waters (like the florida flats) but man, I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to reel in a giant grouper from a paddleboard. Serious props to this guy, I doubt I could manage it.
